September 17, 2014 “Prison for Confederate Officers on Johnson’s Island”
Donald Young, President of Johnson’s Island Preservation Society and curator of the Johnson’s Island exhibit at the Ohio Veteran’s Home museum in Sandusky will be the speaker. He will present a slide show and bring a picture display and artifacts that were found on the island.
October 15, 2014 “Historic U.S. Route 20″
Bryan Farr, President/Executive Director of the Historic U.S. Route 20 Association who lives near Boston, MA will be the speaker. U.S. Route 20 America’s longest highway spans 12 states and is one of the last not to be lost to a rerouted interstate.
November 19, 2014 Native American Indians, Semo and Omick
Lou Schultz, a local history buff, will relate the events that lead to the trial and hanging of the Native Americans in Norwalk, Ohio. Semo and Omick were members of the Chippewa tribe and had made friends with the men who were trappers. Desiring their possession they killed the men while they slept
